I don't have a passion.

I don't have something that I LOVE and gets me excited. Something that gets me out of bed everyday. Something that I look forward to doing.

Is that sad?

Oh joy! I get to spend the first part of one of my least-favorite days of the year working a 10 hour shift with no lunch break! :D

I hope everyone has a good and safe New Years Eve...I dislike the "clean slate" delusions of New Years, but I guess if it gets people feeling good and optimistic then...yay?

2009 was actually a pretty good year for me. I graduated college and went on an amazing 6 week jaunt through Spain and some of the rest of Europe. My sister had a daughter in July and she is the cutest most amazing little tiny person I've ever met.

2010 will hopefully see me leaving the nest and getting a "real" job and living on my own and all that fun stuff that adulthood brings. BRING IT ON.

So far I have been saying "two thousand ten" and that's what I hear most people saying. I wonder if the whole "twenty ten" thing will take off? It sounds kind of silly in my opinion. I also wonder if people will start using the word "the aughts" to refer to the 2000-2009 decade.

I just tried thinking back on the past decade, and pretty much all that comes to mind is "Harry Potter." Yes Harry Potter came out before this decade began, and I read the first 3 books before then, but when I really started getting ~~obsessed with~~ into the series was circa 2002. So, thank you, the aughts, for giving me Harry Potter.

I need to put a freeze on my buying and receiving of various entertainment items, since I am rather overwhelmed by the number of things I have to read/watch/play.

The games that I need to play/finish:

Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4. Totally awesome game, despite being TOTALLY CRAZY. It's a lot of fun though and I think it wants to take over my life.

Dragon Age Origins: Been sloooowly trodding through this one since it came out months ago.

New Super Mario Bros Wii: I need to get another controller so I can make people play it with me.

Fallout 3: Been playing this game since I think February or March of this year. I'm like, 1/3 done with it. fuck.

Mirror's Edge: I don't even really want to play this game but Target had it for $10 new so I couldn't say "no" to that and bought it and have played like 5 minutes of it. Might have to force myself.

Then there are like a thousand TV shows!

Skins: Series 4 starts up in late January, so of course I have to watch at least series 3 again before then.

The Vampire Diaries: Also starts back up in January, so I'll have to marathon the first half of the season to prepare. <3 U STEFAN.

Lost: Gonna start the season 5 rewatchathon soon before season 6 starts up in February. Like everyone else I have NO IDEA what the hell is up with that show, or even why I put up with its bullshit. I blame Kate.

Then there are shows that I want to start on, like the Sopranos, Weeds, Mad Men and so many more that I can't even remember what they are. I also want to re-watch Battlestar Galactica, because that series is awesome.

Comics!

The High School Comic Chronicles of Ariel Schrag: Totally awesome series, I'm about halfway done (I finished Awkward and Definition, which were pretty short, and am in the middle of junior year now, aka Potential. Likewise, which is senior year, is massive.)

Batman: I have a fairly large amount of Batman comics and NO IDEA where to start. I also have Birds of Prey, which I think I might actually start with, because it seems super gay and super lady-friendly.

The Walking Dead: I have the first TPB and need to get crackin' on reading it. I know nothing about it other than zombies are involved.

Life is good. I still hate my job but I'm not going to get into that - fortunately my job is so mindless and so superfluous in the grand scheme of my life that when I come home, apart from having a few bitchy customers to rant about for 5 minutes, I pretty much completely leave work at work. It never looms over me. Which is good.

I have a resume and cover letter composed, though they are pretty rough around the edges and need some serious spit-shine. But I am being optimistic.

So sad to hear about Brittany Murphy dying. I was never a ginormous fan but I loved her as Louanne in King of the Hill and of course Clueless. I don't really remember much about Girl, Interrupted, and forgot she was in it. It's interesting how celebrity deaths affect people so much - I mean, none of us commoners knew Brittany Murphy, or Heath Ledger or any number of the young celebrities who have died over the years, but growing up knowing that someone exists, and then all the sudden they are no longer there - that's a bit weird. I think it also hits closer to home than, say, a 60+ actor dying of cancer, simply because it's caused by these people doing things that we do, or things that people we know do. I'm sure most of us know, or have known, heavy drug users, people with eating disorders, people in violent relationships. It sucks that it takes a celebrity dying for people to realize that this stuff can actually kill you. I'm not saying that necessarily applies to Brittany Murphy - I don't know how she died, but a 32 year old woman doesn't just drop dead from being healthy. Something was wrong, something was up, and that something ended up killing her.

Anyway, on a happier note...Christmas is going to be interesting this year. We always "do" Christmas on Christmas Eve, and this year is no different. We're not going to bring my Grandpa over for Christmas Eve for various reasons, but will have him over Christmas morning for breakfast and stockings and some additional presents. I'm excited! This is also of course the first Christmas with my niece Alison, so that will be fun, even though she's only 5 months old.

Is celebrating Christmas on Christmas Eve "weird" to a lot of people? It's fairly common in this area. Maybe it's a cultural thing? Wikipedia suggests Germans, among others, do it on Christmas Eve, and there are quite a lot of German descendants in Colorado so maybe that's why? All I know is we've always done it on Christmas Eve and a lot of my friends through the years do it then as well. Christmas Morning just seems weird! We do stockings on Christmas morning.

I think Brett said a prayer against my Snuggie family picture plan because I can only find a blue one, no pinks ones and I can't find the right colors/sizes for the dogs. I went to two different Walgreens, Walmart and CVS. Tomorrow I will go to a different Walmart and Petsmart.

Walmart was insane...omg...not looking forward to going back again tomorrow.

A friend of a friend works for the Ford Center and is getting us Brad Paisley/Miranda Lambert/Justin Moore tickets for us for $12!! I'm super excited. I've not been to a concert in a super long time.

Apparently its a sold out show and these are tickets they hold for employees or something like that..I don't really care..I just want to go.

The rest of the afternoon and tomorrow need to fly by! I'm SO ready for vacation! I need to get stocking stuffer stuff for

Brett tonight along with his last big present. I also need to get stuff for the dogs. I'm going to get Katie a pink snuggie! Actually, I might just get one for all of us and take a family picture!! Yes, that just excited me....I'm SO doing that!

I'm thinking about giving scrapbooking another go...maybe. Instead of going out and buying a bunch of crap right in the beginning, I think I'll buy it a page at a time so I'm not wasting even more money. I really really need to do something with all the wedding stuff I have. I need a good winter project. I can drag the card table out of the shed and set it all up in the spare bedroom and give it a go. Instead of buying an album right away, I think I'll just buy pages since that's less expensive so if I do a really shitty job I'm not wasting money on a whole big album. Yeah, thats what I'm going to figure out next week.

I had a cheesesteak from Quiznos for lunch...it was gross.

Guess I'll go figure out some work to do now to make time fly!
